Maha Yogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University

Maha Yogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University, Gorakhpur,[1][2] formerly State Ayush University, Uttar Pradesh is upcoming State University established by Uttar Pradesh act no. 6 of 2020,[3] specialized in Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH). It was renamed as Maha Yogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University, Gorakhpur by Uttar Pradesh Ordinance no. 1 of 2021.[4][5]

History

In December 2020, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced setting up of an 'AYUSH University' in Gorakhpur which would be functional from 2021 to 2022 and educational activities will start from session 2022–2023.[6][7]

Vice-Chancellor

First Vice-Chancellor will be appointed by Government (Chief Minister) for three years, after that every Vice-Chancellor will be appointed by Chancellor (Governor of Uttar Pradesh) for three years.[8]

Academics

Once the university becomes operational, all the Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, Yoga, and Naturopathy colleges of the state will be affiliated with it.[9]
