Middle American burrowing snake

The Middle American burrowing snake (Adelphicos quadrivirgatum) is a species of dipsadine colubrid snake, endemic to Mexico and Central America.[4]

Geographic range

A. quadrivirgatum is found in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and in the Mexican states of Chiapas, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, and Tamaulipas.[3]

Description

A. quadrivirgatum is a small snake. Adult females may attain a total length of 36.5 cm (14.4 in), which includes a tail 5.5 cm (2.2 in) long. Dorsally, it is pale reddish brown, with four or five blackish narrow stripes. Ventrally, it is whitish with a brown stripe along the middle of the tail.[2]

Diet

A. quadrivirgatum preys mainly on earthworms.[3]

Reproduction

A. quadrivirgatum is oviparous.[3]
