History

On October 1, 1919, Left SRs led by Mirgorodsky, Blakitny and the anarchist Mirsky, came to the headquarters of the RIAU. They said that in the Kremenchug region there were many rebels sitting in the forest without weapons, and that they needed to be armed. Soon there was a meeting of the headquarters, at which Mirsky reported on the state of Shuba's detachment and other rebel detachments. Having received an assurance from the Socialist-Revolutionary faction of the Revolutionary Military Council that these detachments had no connection with Petliurism, Belash released 1,000 rifles to Blakitny and handed over one battalion of 1,000 bayonets of the 5th Gulyaypole regiment under the command of Katsura. Thus, the Middle Dnieper group grew under the command of Blakitny.

According to the operational assignment, the group left in the northern direction and was supposed to occupy the city of Cherkassy. The group subsequently operated in the area of Cherkassy, Chigirin and Kremenchug, here it was reinforced and continued further to Znamianka, Oleksandriia and Bila Tserkva.[1]

In November, in the Chigirin area, Blakitny managed to form and spoke at the station in Znamianka, which he occupied on November 20, pushing Slashchov's minor garrison back to Oleksandriia. He renamed his group the Republican Forces, and continued to act independently.
