Modanville, New South Wales

Modanville is a scattered community in New South Wales, Australia, situated 14 kilometres (9 mi) north of the city of Lismore. At the 2006 census, Modanville had a population of 515 people.[1]

Modanville contains farmland and areas of rainforest. The area is known for dairy and macadamia farming.[2] The closest village, Dunoon, is regarded as the Macadamia Capital of Australia.

Known as a village of Lismore, Modanville is actually a locality. It is a broad area of land scattered with farmhouses.

There is currently a General Store, takeaway food shop and a bicycle shop which service the local community.

Modanville is also known to be the home of the Richmond Birdwing butterfly.

Modanville also has a primary school (Modanville Public School) where students from the village and surrounding areas attend.
