Musonda was born in Zambia.[1] She earned her first degree at University of Zambia and later studied at the University of London.
She was a successful lawyer operating in London when billionaire Aliko Dangote persuaded her to focus not on the law but on business opportunities.[1] She went on to lead a food-processing company based in Zambia which intends to supply good food at low cost. An early product was noodles, but she went on to develop a breakfast snack and Num Num’s corn snacks.[2]
Monica Musonda was appointed as a member of the CAF Governance and Ethics Committee.[3] The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) supplies financial services to 1,250 charities and its profile has increased as US/UK anti money laundering rules has threatened existing charity bank accounts because they are considered high risk.[4]
Musonda sits on the jury of the Cartier Women's Initiative.[5] The UN Secretary General appointed her to help organise the "Scaling Up Nutrition Movement".[2]
