Mosquito Awareness Week

Mosquito Awareness Week or Mosquito Control Awareness Week is held every year in countries within the American continent, including the United States.[1] In 2020, Mosquito Awareness Week is observed from June 22 to June 28.[2][3] A separate Caribbean Mosquito Awareness Week (CARPA) is held earlier in the year, typically in April or May.[4]

Mosquito Awareness Week aims to observed by countries in the Americas.[1] It raise awareness of diseases spread by mosquitoes, including dengue, chikungunya, Zika, yellow fever, and malaria. It aims to reduce mosquito breeding and to encourage people to take preventative measures to avoid mosquito bites.[1]

History

Mosquito Awareness Week began in 2016, in response to the 2015 - 2016 Zika outbreak.[5][6]
