Mouse Fire
Mouse Fire is a U.S. independent dance-rock band from Tampa, Florida. They formed in 2006 and released their debut album Wooden Teeth in October 2007 to critical acclaim. The band took a brief hiatus from national touring to play locally and write/record their sophomore full-length album, Big Emotion released on Jun 8th 2010. Both records have been released on Lujo Records. The new album, which has had mixed reviews (mostly positive) was described by the Oklahoma Gazette as "a resolutely dance-floor-ready sound combining bristling funk backbeat, shimmying synth lines and big, harmonic vocal hooks that hark back to Hall & Oates, Air Supply and Chicago… graceful, pretty and foot-tapping." History
Mouse Fire
Mouse Fire originally formed in 2006 as a quartet, the members came out of several Florida bands including Anberlin, Jam Pony, saGoh 24/7, Delivery Boy and more. Both Joey Bruce and Shane Schuch were in the band saGoh 24/7 (Joey left the band in 2000 and Shane was brought in as a replacement). Shane decided to leave the band before they changed their name to Anberlin and Joey Bruce came back to replace him as rhythm guitarist, becoming one of the original 5 founding members of the newly signed band. After Anberlins debut album Blueprints for the Black Market Joey left the band under some controversial issues which can be heard in the lyrics of both Anberlins' second album Never Take Friendship Personal as well as Mouse Fires debut Album "Wooden Teeth".
In February 2008 Joey Bruce, the lead singer decided to leave Mouse Fire to focus on family and other projects. It was a mutual decision fueled by the band's desire to hit the road, and extend its franchise beyond Florida (Joey and the band have both said it was a good split and that they are still great friends). Shane Schuch took over the singing and continued to write new songs. The band had several U.S. tours and then released their second album "Big Emotion" in June 2010. They filmed their first music video (produced by Red Letter Studios in Tampa, FL) for their new single, "True, I May Have Lost It" which won a national Telly Award and will premier on the MTV network in July 2010.[2] You can watch the video on their website, here.
Mouse Fire has participated in 2 compilations, "Masquerade: A Lujo Records Tribute", and "Quality, Quantity, Luxury: A Lujo Records Sampler" and are supposedly releasing a split E.P. later this year which will include their already recorded songs, "Hungry Like the Teen Wolf" and "It aint no word of mouth".
