Nabil Gholam

Nabil Gholam is a Lebanese architect, urban planner and the founder of Nabil Gholam Architects (ngª). in Modern Architecture: A Critical History, critic Kenneth Frampton cited Gholam's colony of holiday chalets at Faqra as one of "two works [which] promise a renewal of Lebanese architecture".[1]

Biography

Nabil Gholam first studied Architecture at the UP-Paris Villemin (now merged into École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Paris-Val de Seine). He then completed studies in Urban Planning at the Graduate School of Architecture of Columbia University in New York City.[2]

After working for several years at Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura, he founded Nabil Gholam Architects (ngª) in Beirut in 1994. In 2004 the firm established a secondary office in Barcelona, which relocated to Seville in 2010.[3]

Works

Platinum Tower in Beirut
  • Beirut Headquarters of CMA CGM (completed 2011)[7]
  • House in the village of Bois-de-Boulogne above Beirut (completed 2012).[8] This house won Honorable Mention in Architectural Design / Residential Architecture from Architecture Masterprize.[9]
  • Skygate Tower in Beirut (completed 2014)[11]
