Nandini Shankar

Nandini Shankar is an Indian violinist who performs Hindustani classical music and fusion. She is the daughter of Sangeeta Shankar[1] and granddaughter of N. Rajam.[2]

Early life

Shankar began her training at the age of 3 and gave her first public performance at 8. She gave her first full-fledged solo performance at the age of 13.[3] She plays violin in the Gayaki Ang.

Education

Nandini Shankar excelled in academics. She completed her graduation in commerce, and is a qualified Indian Chartered Accountant (ICAI). She completed her M.A. in Music.

Performing career

Shankar performed at Carnegie Hall [4] in 2016. Countries in which she has performed include the United States,[4] Canada,[5] New Zealand,[6] Switzerland ,[7] the United Kingdom,[8] France, Germany, Belgium,[5] Netherlands,[9] Hungary, the UAE,[10] Bangladesh,[11] Malaysia,[12] Sri Lanka, Indonesia[13] and Singapore.[14] She has performed at festivals including the Europalia,[5] Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Festival,[15] [16] [17] Yaksha (festival),[18] Saptak Festival of Music,[19] Aarohi for Pancham Nishad,[20] ITC SRA Sangeet Sammelan,[21] MERU in Netherlands,[9] Jaya Smriti organised by Hema Malini,[22] Temple of Fine Arts,[12] Bhilwara Sur Sangam,[23] The Association of Performing Arts of India,[24] T. N. Krishnan Foundation,[25] Delhi International Arts Festival,[26] Bengal Music Foundation,[11] and Dover Lane Music Conference.[27] She has been telecast in Idea Jalsa[28] and made a music video with her sister Ragini Shankar.[29]

She is a part of Sakhi, India's first all-girl Indian classical musical band, formed by Kaushiki Chakraborty.[30] She is also a part of 'inStrings', a fusion band combining various genres from across the world.

She resides in Mumbai.
