Natan of Makova

Natan of Makova (Yiddish: נתן פון מאקאווא; c. 1765 – 1825) also called Nosson of Makova was an early 19th-century Hungarian Hasidic rebbe.

Born in Makó, Hungary (Makova in Yiddish). In his early years, he travelled to Lublin, where he became a disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin, under whose instruction he travelled to Kurów, where he became the leading disciple of Shmuel of Karov. It was around this time that he married Chana Levin (1767-1834), the daughter of Chaim Chaykl of Amdur, who helped Reb Natan to establish his own Hasidic court in his hometown of Makó. His son, Reb Yochanan of Makova (1785-1840) succeeded him as Makova Rebbe. Reb Natan's grandson Reb Fischel Samuel Heller, married Sarah Hadas, the daughter of Avraham Moshe of Peshischa.[1][2][3]
