Social Importance

Movies based on true social incidents are rare in Tamil Cinema. The words freedom & independence are almost always attributed to the 1940s and beyond. Nellu documents the social imbalance that prevailed post-independence in the villages. The theme of the movie revolves around the poor agricultural workers and their landlords. From untouchability to caste discrimination to deprival of basic human rights, unemployment & wages below the bare minimum, the script touches on all the sensitive issues that were prevalent in the villages around that time.[2]

Soundtrack

The music of the film is composed by S. S. Kumaran. Lyrics are penned by Thamarai and Na. Muthukumar.
