Nexus have their rehearsal base at Sandye Place Middle School, Sandy, Bedfordshire.[3]
For their inaugural season Nexus competed in the British Youth Band Association (BYBA) circuit. In 2011, Nexus also joined the Drum Corps United Kingdom (DCUK) circuit, where they have competed every year since. Nexus have also enjoyed competition in European shows from 2012.
Nexus competed in Division Three for their first BYBA season and since were promoted to Division Two for 2011 after becoming Division Three Finals and National Champions. However, in 2011, Nexus have decided to move to Associate Class in BYBA and Open Class in DCUK.[4]

A diamond-shaped badge is placed at the pinnacle of the stripe, the design of which varies year by year and has been used previously with Distant Thunder Show Corps. The badges, as used on the jackets, have been as follows:
- 2010 – "Sheriff" badge with interlocking X from main logo. Linked into "Wild West" theme.

Indoor Percussion Unit
For the 2011 Winter Season, Nexus competed as an Indoor Percussion Unit,[8] directed by Claire Tayeg.
Their 2011 show, entitled "Pirates AND The Caribbean", was performed at the Winter Guard United Kingdom (WGUK) and Indoor Percussion Europe (IPE) contests in the UK, where they scored third place both at the IPE/WGUK contest in Burgess Hill and the WGUK finals in Sheffield.[9]
Ouse Valley Sounds
Nexus Drum & Bugle Corps, in conjunction with BYBA, host the annual Ouse Valley Sounds Youth Marching Band Championships.[10]
Ouse Valley Sounds (OVS) varies in its location almost every year, in Bedfordshire. Prior to 2010, hosted by Distant Thunder, it was held at the Bedford International Athletic Stadium. Post 2010, OVS was moved to the Biggleswade Town Football Club. Due to Nexus having focusing more on DCUK than the BYBA circuit, the show has since been held at other locations, as of 2013.
The Bedfordshire Reunion Brass Band usually play at Ouse Valley Sounds at breaks in the contest, such as before "Retreat".[11]
In 2012, Nexus hosted both Ouse Valley Sounds for BYBA and DCUK circuits, both on the same weekend.
Partnership with Encore
Nexus formed a partnership with Encore Drum & Bugle Corps of Sandy, a junior band that has not been competing since 2003, in November 2010.[12]
Encore had, historically, been the 1st Sandy Scout and Guide Band, and latterly independently as Encore, whereby the took 3rd place at two DCUK contests in their last two competitive seasons (2002 and 2003) and their cadet corps took 3rd (in 2002) and 1st (in 2003) at finals.[13] Encore subsequently disbanded just before the 2004 DCUK season.
Membership of Encore is open to anyone aged 6 and over, although it is aimed towards younger musical members, as it is a Junior Corps.
Encore's Corps Director is Barry Barker.[14]
