Nigerian Army University Biu

Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) is a Nigerian Public tertiary institution located in Biu, Borrno State, Nigeria. It is a research higher institution for innovation and technology for the Nigerian Army . It was established in 2018.[1][2]

The university is managed by the Nigerian Army which has 75% civilian and 25% military and paramilitary. It is the first Nigerian Army University and Africa's First Green University.[2]

Background

Nigerian Army University Biu was created through the idea of a Nigerian senator Mohammed Ali ndume, Chaiman Committee on Army and other Members of the Committee, in response to the Boko haram insurgency in North-East of Nigeria. The Act to establish it was passedi in 2018.[3][4]

The university is located in Bornor State being the most affected environment for the insurgencies,. It focuses on research and technological advancement in defence systems which cover athe affected areas in Bornor, Nigeria, and Africa.[5]

Vice Chancellors

  • On May 28, 2019, the Nigerian Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buritai approved the appointment of Prof. David Iliya Malgwi as vice chancellor of Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB)[6]
  • On Match 23, 2020, the appointment of Prof. Kyari Mohammed was approved as Vice Chancellor of Nigerian Army University[7]
