Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury Liton

Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury Liton (Bengali: নূর-ই-আলম চৌধুরী; born 1 June 1964) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and Member of Parliament from Madaripur-1 and the Chief whip of Jatiya Sangsad.

Early life

Chowdhury was born on 1 June 1964. He completed HSC or Higher School Certificate Examination.[1] He is the grand-nephew of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.[2] Both his paternal and maternal grandmothers were sisters of Mujib. His parents, Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury and Sheikh Feroza Begum, are cousins of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.[3]

Career

Chowdhury was elected to Parliament in 2014 from Madaripur-1 as a Bangladesh Awami League Candidate.[4] He is the Whip of the Parliament. He is also a member of the parliamentary standing committee on Ministry of Housing and Public Works.[5] He was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Shipping.[6]
