Otunba Fatai Sowemimo

Otunba Fatai Sowemimo (born March 5, 1955) is a Nigerian Businessman and Politician from Ogun State, Remo-North. He is the Chairman of Ogun State Water Corporation.

Early years

Sowemimo is born on 5 March 1955 in Isara. He is the Son of Pa. Sekoni Sowemimo and Alhaja Muyibat Olabimpe Sowemimo. He attended Sapade Grammar School in Isara, then obtained a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Chicago State University.

Career

He is the Managing Director of Wemson Real Estate Management.

Political career

He was the Chairman of Ikenne Local Government. When Remo North Local Government was formed out of Ikenne Local Government in October 1996 through the military order of the Late General Sani Abacha, this move ushered in the creation of new local governments throughout Nigeria. Through this, he became the First Sole administrator/chairman till March 24 1997.

In 1999, Fatai Sowemimo became a Honorable Member of the Ogun State House Assembly, representing Remo-North. After completing his tenure as a legislator in 2003, he contested the House of Representatives election but lost. He continued his political ambition and served as Commissioner under the former Governor of Ogun State,Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

On August 13, 2020, he was appointed as the Chairman of Ogun State Water Corporation by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

He was sworn in as the Chairman of Ogun State Water Corporation on November 17, 2020.

Personal life

He is married to Kehinde Sowemimo and they have three children. His wife is the grand-daughter of Late Monarch of Ogere-Remo, Oba Alfred Obafuwa Babington-Ashaye. Legunsen III, the Ologere of Ogere. She is the daughter of Prince Olumuyiwa Babington-Ashaye.
