Palmetto State Armory
Palmetto State Armory is an American firearms company based in Columbia, South Carolina. The name derives from South Carolina's official nickname, "The Palmetto State".[1] Palmetto State Armory operates several retail locations around the state of South Carolina and Georgia.
History
Jamin McCallum is a veteran of the United States Army National Guard[2] who served overseas in the Iraq War. Jamin established Palmetto State Armory in 2008 after leaving a career in accounting to pursue his passion in firearms.[3]
Jamin began selling magazines and ammunition online while fulfilling orders out of his garage. The company now employs more than 200 people and is continuing to grow, with former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley calling it, "a valued member of South Carolina's thriving business community."[4]
Palmetto State Armory's website now sells a full array of firearms-related products. Everything it builds in-house as well as reloading supplies and tactical and hunting apparel. In September 2020, JJE Capital Holdings, the parent company behind Palmetto State Armory, purchased multiple brands, including DPMS, H&R, AAC, and others previously owned by Freedom Group, Remington's parent company.
Product line
Palmetto State Armory is known for its line of AR-15 rifles and pistols.[5]
In the last several years Palmetto State Armory's line has expanded to include AKM style rifles, a line of 1911 handguns,[6] AR-10 rifles, 9mm AR-style pistols,[7] and various rifle uppers from with a caliber assortment varying .22LR to .308 WIN. Palmetto State Armory plans to add [8] - a 9mm handgun - to its lineup in the near future.
Retail locations
Palmetto State Armory has six retail stores located throughout the state of South Carolina. The cities of Greenville, Columbia, Ridgeland, Mount Pleasant and Summerville all host at least one location. Palmetto State Armory also has an outdoor shooting facility located in Swansea, SC called Palmetto Outdoors. In Fall 2020, Palmetto State Armory opened its retail location in Savannah, GA.
