The Ontario Censor Board forced Owen to cut a 90-second sex scene from the film.[3]
The film has most commonly been analyzed as an allegory for Canadian nationalism.[1] However, it was not well received by critics,[1] and Owen did not make another film until 1984's Unfinished Business, which was billed as his "comeback".[4] It was a Canadian Film Award nominee for Best Feature Film at the 27th Canadian Film Awards in 1976,[3] but did not win.
