Pavel Kazakov

Pavel Nikolaevich Kazakov (Russian Павел Николаевич Казаков) (19 February 1928 Moscow, Soviet Union - 17 September 2012) was a Soviet international football referee.[1][2]

Referee career

He was member of FIFA in 1956-78 and officiated eight international matches. He attributed two matches in 1974 World Cup, two matches in 1974 World Cup qualifying, two matches in EURO qualifying 1972 (1), 1976 (2)[3] and others were friendly. He also refereed two matches in Olympic Games 1972. Pavel Kazakov said in an interview that he was a serious candidate for the 1974 final, but FIFA did not want to appoint a referee from the Soviet Union to the final, because in the 1966 World Cup final there were Tofiq Bahramov assistant referee from the Soviet Union.[4]

In club football he refereed some UEFA competition matches such as Champions League (4), UEFA Cup (7) and Cup Winners Cup (5). He attributed 164 Soviet Top League matches in 1964–76. He also officiated two Soviet Cup finals in 1973 and 1976.[5]
