Pholcobates

Pholcobates is a monotypic moth genus in the family Depressariidae. Its only species, Pholcobates flagelliformis, is found in Brazil. Both the genus and species were first described by Edward Meyrick in 1931.[1]

The wingspan is about 16 mm. The forewings are lilac grey with an attenuated white costal streak from the base to about four-fifths and a direct transverse whitish line at one-fourth from this to the dorsum, as well as an extremely oblique strong black line from the middle of the costa to four-fifths, where it meets the apex of an incurved white line anteriorly edged with dark grey running to the dorsum at two-thirds. The apical and terminal edges are blackish, the apical preceded by white suffusion. The hindwings are grey, suffused with white towards the base.[2]
