Piotr Libera

Piotr Libera (born 1951) is a Polish bishop. He was Suffragan bishop of Katowice from 1996 to 2007, and secretary general of the Episcopate of Poland (1998–2007).

He was Titular Bishop of Centuria in North Africa from 1996–2007.[1] Since May 2, 2007 Piotr Libera is the bishop of Płock. His public installation ceremony took place on May 31, 2007 in Masovian Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral in Płock.

In 2009, he excommunicated a journalist who had attempted to tape-record their own religious confession in order to denounce corruption in the clergy.[2]
