Poornachandra Mysore

Poornachandra Mysore (born 3 March 1988) is an Indian film actor and theater actor, best known for playing a lead role in Patinga. He is known for playing a wide range of starring or supporting roles, including satirical comedy, romance, and dark portrayals of the society. He began his career by doing short films, writing advertisement jingles and writing scripts for reality shows.

Early life and family

Poornachandra was born on March 3, 1988, in Mysore, Karnataka, India. His father, Chaluvaraj and mother Jyothi, work for KPTCL. He also has an elder brother. He attended Mahajana First Grade college in Mysore and graduated in the field of commerce. He started doing dramas, skits and mimes in college which drew his interest towards full-time acting.

Career

Poorna's career began in 2004, when Rangayana visited his college to conduct “Yuvaranga shikshana” where he joined the group and got theatre training. Prashanth Hiremat, his mentor and an artist from Rangayana, identified his talent and nurtured him to the Methodist acting. Under Prashanth Hiremat's mentorship and direction, Poorna acted in several novel based dramas which gave him the strong foundation towards acting. Some of his notable works are, playing a lead role in Kannada based Srinivasa Vaidya's “Parshwasangeeta” which had 17 shows, played 13 different roles in another Kannada drama “Beralu Hididhu Nadisidhe Belithiriya Geleya”, played as Dr. Rank in English based play “A Doll’s House” and many more. He also worked in Radio Red FM as a producer, wrote scripts and jingles for advertisements.

Poornachandra Mysore met Christian Stuckl, a famous German theatre director who came to Rangayana to conduct one-day theater workshop. He got introduced to the world class theater experience and learnt the acting discipline in Germany. Poornachandra's friendship with Dhananjay, a well known actor in Kannada, began during his visit to Germany and continues to be good friends in the industry even now.

Theatre

He started his acting in theatre dramas and mimes during while he was in college. He met Prashanth Hiremat in Rangayana, who at that time was giving acting training for young artists and Poornachandra started acting in some of his plays. His recent romantic drama named "Parshwasangeeta" was very well received by many critics for his lead role.[1] The show was performed in many cities due to its popularity.[2]

Short films and Youtube

Poornachandra Mysore started acting in short films while he was doing theatre. His popular one being a Kannada short film named "Patinga", which got him Best Actor at SIIMA Short Film Awards.[3][4] He is also a co-founder of popular Kannada YouTube channel, Karnataka Entertainment Board (KEB) founded in 2016 which hosts satirical and dark comedies, with over 30k subscribers.[5] He has also worked on English short film “Puppet Master”[6]

Films

After working in numerous plays and gaining knowledge towards acting through theatre, Poornachandra's first appeared in the movie named Lucia, which is a popular crowd funded Kannada film, directed by Pawan Kumar in 2013. He later went on to play a lead role in Kannada movie BB5 which released in 2017.[4][7] Under the guidance of Krupakar- Senani, he learnt the art of film making and considers them as a mentor. He has been acted in movies like Dyaavre, Tagaru, Dayavittu Gamanisi, Nathicharami, and his most awaited upcoming, Orchestra. He continues in being an actor, dialogue writer, story and screen play writer. He believes in hard work and has assisted many in film making in the name of goodwill.

Moon Walk Viral

Poornachandra Mysore was part of a "Moon Walk" project - a video made by artist Baadal Nanjundaswamy. The video starts of with what it looks like an astronaut(Poornachandra Mysore) wearing a spacesuit seen walking on a series of "craters". It is revealed that the man is walking on a road in Bangalore and "creators" are the pot hole. The video was released on September 1, 2019 and it quickly garnered worldwide recognition.[8][9]

Aftermath

The local municipality quickly responded and fixed the road which was filled with the potholes.[10] Similar videos were created in multiple parts of India as well in Mexico[11]
