Production

Jeethu Joseph began the pre-production work of Ram by late 2019, while involved in the post-production work of The Body and Thambi at the same time.[4] In September 2019, it was reported that Mohanlal and Trisha will be starring in Jeethu's high-budget thriller produced by Chennai-based Abhishek Films, which is to be shot in India and abroad, with filming set to begin in November, lasting 100 days.[5] Filming date was pushed to late December, to start during the releasing week of Thambi. Jeethu describes the genre as an action thriller with story set in several countries.[6]

A pooja function for the film and a press meet was held on 16 December 2019, where the film's title was revealed. While interacting to the press, Jeethu said that he was approached by the producers three years ago to make a second film with Mohanlal after Drishyam (2013), "I was tensed about doing another film with Lalettan because it's a huge responsibility. It took me three years to come up with the right subject". During the casting process, Trisha was suggested for the role by Mohanlal.[7] He also suggested Prachi Tehlan for another role. The film also features Adil Hussain, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Durga Krishna in pivotal roles.[8]

Music

Anil Johnson was signed in as the composer of the movie. However he opted out in favour of the same team sequel to the 2013 blockbuster Drishyam. Composer Vidyasagar's protege Vishnu Shyam was then given the opportunity to compose the score for the movie. The lyrics for songs were written by Vinayak Sasikumar.[9]

Release

The film was planned to be released on 22 October 2020 during Pooja holidays but postponed due to 2020 coronavirus pandemic. The film is now scheduled to be released in 2021.
