Ramzan Akhmadov

Ramzan Akhmadov (Chechen: Ахьмадан Ӏаданани КӀант Рамзан) (1970–2001) was a Chechen general, who commanded the Southwestern Fronts of Chechnya.[1]

Biography

Ramzan Akhmadov was born in 1970 in Kazakhstan, where the Akhmadov family lived after the deportation in 1944. In 1990, the Ahmadovs returned to the city of Urus-Martan, located in the south-west of Chechnya.[2]

In the first Chechen war he led a large detachment of militants who operated in the city of Grozny.

During the Second War, Ramzan Akhmadov was the closest associate of the President of Ichkeria Aslan Maskhadov, led the Urus-Martan front, the Achkhoy-Martan front and the west of Grozny.[3]

Akhmadov was killed in February 2001.

Ramzan had 5 brothers: Apti died in 2001, Rizvan died in 2002, Abu died in 1999, Huta died in 1999, Zelimkhan died in 2002. His family was of the Gendargenoy Teip.[2]
