Rande Gerber

Rande Gerber (born April 27, 1962) is an American entertainment industry businessman and former model. He founded nightlife companies Midnight Oil and the Gerber Group. A bar and nightlife industry entrepreneur, his portfolio has consisted of restaurants, bars and lounges worldwide. In 2014, he launched Gerber Spirits.[2]

Early life

Gerber was born in Queens, New York City and grew up in Hewlett, Long Island, New York. He is the son of Jordan Gerber and Ellen Peckman.[3] Gerber is Jewish.[3]

Career

Gerber's Gerber Group opened its first venue, the bar The Whiskey in the Paramount Hotel in New York City, in 1991.[4] In 2013, he partnered with George Clooney to launch Casamigos Tequila.[5] In June 2017, it was sold to Diageo for $700 million, with an additional $300 million possible depending on the company's performance over the next ten years.[6] In January 2019, it was announced that Gerber, along with his wife Cindy Crawford, Mike Meldman, Jeff Shell and Jay Sures would purchase the Hollywood deli, Nate 'n Al.[7][8]

Personal life

Gerber married model Cindy Crawford on May 29, 1998.[9] They have two children, son Presley Walker (born July 2, 1999)[3] and daughter Kaia Jordan (born September 3, 2001),[10][11] both of whom started a modeling career while growing up.[12][13]

Gerber grew up in Hewlett, New York[14] and graduated in 1980 from Hewlett High School on Long Island.[15] He attended the University of Arizona and graduated with a BA in marketing.[16]
