Rangbaaz (web series)

Season 1

Rangbaaz is based on the true story of Shri Prakash Shukla (Shiv Prakash Shukla in the series), who was a notorious gangster and the most wanted criminal of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The series shows his journey from a DDU student to becoming the second most wanted criminal in India. Other characters related to Shree Prakash's life include Ram Shankar Tiwari, inspired by Hari Shankar Tiwari, and Chandra Bhan Singh, inspired by Suraj Bhan Singh (former MP from Mokama, Bihar).

Episode 1 - Gangster ka mobile phone

In a car, Key's mobsters wait for the time to do their job. When it is 12 am, they go to a flat and give a cell phone to a woman, who is Shiv Prakash's girlfriend, while singing Happy Birthday. A flashback scene ensues in which Shiv is a college student. A local resident catcalls his sister, which angers him, as he proceeds to shoot the local resident. A politician helps Shiv and takes him to Bangkok until the police stops their search.

Episode 2 - Coming of age

The police start to listen in to the phone calls of Shiv and find that he had made several calls to a girl. With this information, they start tracking him, but the key question is determining the girl's identity. Another flashback ensues, in which Shiv is in Bangkok, where he is not allowed to talk to his family. He is asking himself whether he wanted to kill that man or if he did it by mistake. One day, Shiv is asked to kill a person. He is given a gun to shoot them, but he gets captured and subsequently tortured. Nevertheless, he doesn't tell them anything, which gave him a good reputation. He recruited by a gang and then returns to Gorakpur with them.

Episode 3 - Bhiksha , Shiksha and Diksha

There are two political parties; one is the Brahmin influenced party, and the other party. The goons are planning to kill one of the party members. Shiv enters and says that they don't know he works for Tiwari, which will help him even if he gets caught. He forms his own gang and kills the party member, making him one of the budding gangsters.

Episode 4 - Naam hai ram shankar tiwari

Chandraban Singh, Tiwari's rival, calls Shiv to get him a job. Shiv travels to Patna to meet him. He wants to grow, and he gives him a positive reply for joining him. The police in the present is trying to find the location of Shiv, which becomes difficult for them. But at last, they find where he is hiding. On the operation, Shiv gets information from Chandraban and escapes on the way to killing a police officer.

Episode 5 - Shiv prakash kiske saath hai

Tiwari, who knows that Shiv is going to start working for another party, is not convinced. This makes some business issues. Some of the contractors are suspected by Tiwari as Shiv is not on their side. Shiv is planning to jump on the side which is going to benefit him more. In a phone conversation, they find that Shiv is talking to a woman named Babita.

Episode 6 -Mata ka jagarta

In the flashback, Shiv goes to a five-star hotel where he gets to meet Babita, who is a receptionist. He flirts with her, which end with both getting into a relationship. Tiwari makes his moves to eliminate Shiv.

Episode 7- Apaharan

Shiv kidnaps a financier working for Tiwari and as a ransom he wants crore. Tiwari is not convinced with this, and asks to murder Shiv, as he is going to cause more problems. In this event, Shiv's sister is getting engaged but he is not able to attend his sister's engagement. Tiwari's men are killed by Shiv's gang in a shootout.

Episode 8 - National level ka criminal

Police finds where Babita is while Shiv is been in hiding and transit for 6 months. In a TV show, Shiv is telecasted as a contract killer who has done notorious crimes. Maybe this will help police as he will do any mistake of revealing himself.

Episode 9 - Climax

In a conversation to Babita, he asks to leave him as he doesn't want her to be with him, which ends up bad for her. Shiv plans on attending the marriage of his sister. While police are waiting at Babita's place for Shiv. Shiv also arrives there to see Babita and Shiv finds that he is surrounded. Finally, Shiv is shot by the police and his file is closed.

Season 2

Rangbaaz Phir Se is inspired from the life of Anandpal Singh (name changed to Amarpal Singh) who was a gangster active in the state of Rajasthan. The series chronicles his rise to becoming the most wanted criminal in the history of Rajasthan.[11] The story also covers his business of illicit liquor, his rivalry with Gopal Phogawat (name changed to Raja Phogat), and his dynamics with the political leadership of the state.

After the successful run of first season, ZEE5 announced a spin-off sequel for the show, titled "Rangbaaz Phirse" [9][10]
