Reidar Bjørnestad

Reidar Bjørnestad (9 September 1947 in Sandviken, Norway - 9 March 2005[1]) was a Norwegian international football referee.[2] In the 1990s, he was assistant coach of Sogndal Fotball.[3]

Career

He officiated 6 international matches in 1977–85. He attributed a 1982 World Cup qualifying match played between Germany-Albania (8:0), a EURO 1984 qualifying match[4] and others were in friendly matches include one Nordic Football Championship match in 1980.

In club football he officiated some UEFA competition matches such as Champions League (3), UEFA Cup (2) and Cup Winners Cup (2).[5] He officiated 103 Eliteserien matches in 1973–85. He attributed 1978 Norwegian Football Cup Final.

Personal life

After active refereeing career he was chairman of Norwegian Football Association Referee Committee.[6] From 2000 to 2004, he was involved in education and international auditing as a member of the UEFA Referee Assosiation.
