After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in English literature in 2010, she worked as an Editorial Assistant for University of Minnesota Press. Her stage name originates from references to Spanish literature: her guitar is nicknamed "El Cid", named after the Castilian nobleman of the same name, and her name "Reina", meaning Queen in Spanish, the Queen of her guitar.[9][10]
Del Cid and her band have developed a significant following on their YouTube channel[11] as independent artists. She regularly releases original songs and covers in her series of videos, Sunday Mornings with Reina del Cid.
In July 2019, del Cid announced the release of a full-length album, Morse Code.[12] It was officially released on October 4, 2019, with a kick-off concert at The Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis.[13]
