Respond one of the largest not‐for‐profit Approved Housing Bodies (AHB) and service provider has been working all around Ireland for 37 years. Respond was founded by Fr. Pat Cogan ofm in 1982 as he sought to provide meaningful solutions to housing insecurity and homelessness in Waterford with a particular focus on social inclusion, personal dignity and sustainable communities. Since then Respond has continued this work nationally, tackling the ongoing housing crisis by providing high quality homes and wraparound support services to people and families at risk of homelessness.

Respond aim to contribute to an Ireland where everyone can have a home to call their own and where individuals, families and communities are empowered to reach their full potential. They are addressing the housing and homelessness crisis by providing social housing for people who need it. To address family homelessness Respond run six family homelessness services providing emergency accommodation with 24/7 wraparound support services. This involves support in accessing permanent housing, mental and physical health services, family/parenting support and a range of other issues.In addition to housing related work Respond also provide Day Care Services for Older People, Early Childhood Care and Education, Family Support, and Resettlement Services. They work in partnership with the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, Local Authorities, the Health Service Executive, Dublin Regional Homeless Executive and our sector colleagues. Respond have 283 staff and directly employ an in-house multi-disciplinary development team made up of architects, planners, quantity surveyors and clerk of works who continually work on delivering new homes for people across Ireland.
