Rohini Mohan

Dr. Rohini Mohan (Kannada: ರೋಹಿಣಿ ಮೋಹನ್)is a reputed sugama sangeetha singer from Karnataka who is known for her bhava filled renditions.[1] Rashtrakavi Kuvempu was so much impressed by her singing that he personally asked her to record his compositions without orchestra. Early life

Born on October 15, 1961 to M.S. Nagaraj (Retired Magistrate) and Anasuya Nagara in Mysore. Rohini used to sing at a very tender age and participated in 'makkala karyakrama' (children's programme) in All India Radio at the age of Six. Very successful in interschool and inter-college competition and won best outgoing student

award most of the years. Had Karnataka classical training under Smt. Lakshmi and later sugama sangeetha under renowned artist Smt. H. R. Leelavathy for over 12 years.[2] Has been trained in Hindustani classical music under Smt. Kushala Jagannath. She is an A-grade artist of AIR.

Graduated from Mysore Medical College. Married to very supportive Sri. M. S. Ram mohan, Director in a Multinational company. Daughter Miss. Surabhi Mohan, Engineer and Singer and Son Mr. Sourabha Ram mohan,a C.A. in the making.

Performances

Has performed under almost all the important banners in Karnataka covering most of the districts. She has also performed in Bombay, Delhi and Coimbatore.

During 1979-80 sponsored by the Department of Information and broadcasting has given programs all over Karnataka educating people on family planning. She is an A-grade

artist of AIR.

Has conducted workshop, seminars, Lectures on various aspects of sugama sangeetha and written articles on eminent artists in the field. Has sung for Shivaram karanth's musical drama 'Kissa goutami', 'Geeta Ramayana', 'Veera viragini Akka mahadevi' and 'Prema kashmira'. Composed music for her CD 'Sahane vajrada kavacha' Her individual albums include 'kanasu', 'Beldingalu'(compositions of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu's songs) 'Jeevana-kale', 'Milana', 'Bhava sourabha' and 'Bhava-Bhakti'
