Sairbeen

Sairbeen is a flagship show of BBC Urdu about current affairs aired on television and digital platforms currently hosted by Aliya Nazki.[1] The show was started in 1968.[1] Sairbeen has been previously hosted by notable broadcasters and journalists from Pakistan including Shafi Naqi Jamie, Mahpara Safdar, Waqar Ahmad Khan, Adil Shahzeb, Aamir Ahmad Khan, Ahmad Raza and Amber Shamsi

History

With its start in 1968, it acquired huge following in Pakistan.[1] During Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, when the state television, PTV, told that everything is fine in East Pakistan, the program told the truth.[1] During 1999 Pakistani coup d'état, it acquired around 20 million people tuning in each week.[1]
