Salindh

Salindh is an old village,Post office and Thana Safipur, bordering the small town of Safipur in Unnao district (sandwiched between Lucknow and Kanpur), of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.[1]

Salindh is a small old village. about 1 kms near Safipur tehsil hospital,bus station, police station, post office, and railway station connecting Bangermau and Hardoi with Unnao and Kanpur.

Salindh population may be under 200 has brick houses, few parchoon shops, one Hanuman mandir, 2 masjids, a Muslim kabristan called Raju Dada, primary school, with hardly any sanitation, roads, drainage, and Power supply, electricity is irregular. Mostly farmers. mango grooves, fish business of Munna, and two Lawyers practicing.

Demographics

Land is more important than caste in the village. Chamars, Ahirs, Nai, Telis, Kurmis, Muslims are found in the villages. No Brahmin or Thakur live there. One Bania family, the Shankars, is unique.

In the mid-20th century, poverty and pressure on land drove a few people to migrate to Lucknow, Kanpur, Unnao, Bombay, and even foreign countries.
