Samlandic

Samlandic is a part of Low Prussian, belonging to Low German. It is divided into Ostsamländisch and Westsamländisch.[1] Both are from East Prussia. [2] Westsamländisch is or used to be spoken West of Kaliningrad. [3] Westsamländisch has or used to have a border with Ostsamländisch. [4] Ostsamländisch is or used to be spoken around Kaliningrad, Polessk and Znamensk, Kaliningrad Oblast. [5] Ostsamländisch has or used to have a border with Natangian, Westsamländisch and Mundart des Ostgebiets. [6] Westsamländisch has, in contrast to the remainder of Samlandic for (I) go, (I) stand etc. jon, schton tc..[7] O before R is spoken with a long vowel. [8] It has ick sint meaning I am and tije for ten. [9] During the latter age of the Teutonic order, Latvian-Curonian fishermen came to nowadays Pionerski, Primorye, Kaliningrad Oblast and Filino (Kaliningrad Oblast). [10] Westsamländisch is used as a term in German for long, but it has few speakers.
