San Jacinto River Authority

The San Jacinto River Authority manages the San Jacinto River and its contributing watershed, which is located in Southeast Texas. The Authority has managed reservoir Lake Conroe since its impoundment in 1973 and has one-third ownership of its water while the City of Houston has two-thirds ownership. The river continues downstream through the smaller 1953 reservoir Lake Houston, which the Authority does not own.
