Sandra C. Fernández
Sandra C. Fernández (born 1964) is a Ecuadorian artist living in New Jersey who works in photography, printmaking and book arts.
Life
Childhood
Fernández was born in Queens, New York in 1964.[1] She spent her early years in Quito, Ecuador.
Education
Fernández began studies in graphic design, and received Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees in Photography, Printmaking and Book Arts from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She studied intaglio printmaking techniques at Taller Tres en Raya in Madrid, Spain.[2] She trained as an artist in residence with Sam Coronado's Serie Project in 2013.[3]
Career
Fernández has been a professor at several universities in the United States. She was an assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin. Her courses have included printmaking, artist's books, drawing, photography, and art appreciation.
Fernández is a past director of the Printmaking Center of New Jersey.[4] She is the director of the Consejo Gráfico, an independent coalition of printmaking workshops.
