Satyam (1976 film)

Sathyam (lit. 'The Truth') is a 1976 Indian Tamil language film, directed by S. A. Kannan and produced by P. M. Shanmugam and S. A. Kannan. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Kamal Haasan, Devika, Jayachitra and M. N. Nambiar in lead roles. The film had musical score by K V Mahadevan. The film has Kamal Haasan playing the younger brother of Sivaji Ganesan.[1][2][3] The film was adapted from the stage play Vidhi.[4]

Production

Satyam was an adaptation of stage play Vidhi.[4] The play was written by S. A. Kannan who also directed the film adaptation. Kamal Haasan was paired with Manjula which remained their only collaboration in their career.[5]

Soundtrack

Soundtrack was composed by KV Mahadevan and lyrics written by Kannadasan and Rajagopal.[6] The song "Kalyana Kovilil" attained popularity.[5]
