Shabnam Ferdousi

Shabnam Ferdousi (born on 14 January 1972) is a Bangladeshi filmmaker and film activist. She is working in a different sector in electronic media for the last 25 years. She made more than 30 documentary films. Have done many feature show, infotainment programs for various TV channels.  She worked as an executive producer of more than 80 documentary films for Ekattor TV and Jamuna Television. She is also famous for news presenter and TV show presenter.

Career

She started her career as a model in TV commercials back in 1995. In 1996 she joined Zahir Raihan Film Society. She became the member of Bangladesh Short Film Forum in 1999 and organized a national film fest in her home town Tangail in 2000. Later she participated in the first documentary film making course in Bangladesh organized by Steps Towards Development and started her career as a documentary filmmaker from  20 years.

Achievements

She is the first woman filmmaker who achieved the prestigious National Film Award of Bangladesh Govt. She also has been awarded Govt. fund for her debut fiction film “Ajob Karkhana” in 2017. The film will be released in 2021. Now she is working as a Program Editor in Ekattor TV for the last 10 years.

Vision

The endeavor in her film is microscopic. She loves to see things and explain everything from micro to the macro level. She explored her films from human rights to fine arts in every single detail. Her major contribution is to produce documentary films on a television channel for the first time in Bangladesh with young filmmakers.
