Sheila A. Hellstrom
Sheila A. Hellstrom CD (1935–2020) was a Canadian military officer who became the first woman Canadian Forces member to achieve the rank of brigadier-general, as well as being the first woman to graduate from Canadian Forces College.[1]

Biography
In 1935, Hellstrom was born in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.[2] Described as a “gutsy broad” in an official performance evaluation,[3] she joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1954,[4] after graduating from Mount Allison University with a biology degree.[2][5] On January 27, 1987, Hellstorm was promoted to brigadier-general and served as director-general for personnel.[5] [6]
On December 7, 2020, Hellstrom passed away in Ottawa.
