Sociology of philosophy

Sociology of philosophy is a subdivision of sociology that seeks to understand the influence of philosophy within society, the social conditions in the intellectual activity and effects of philosophy, and the social configurations and processes of philosophical research. Sociology of philosophy, as an empirical sociological branch based on theory, was developed in the 1980s.[1]
