Sohel Chowdhury
Sohel Chowdhury (Bengali: সোহেল চৌধুরী; 1965–1998) was a Bangladeshi film actor. He was a popular film actor of the 80th and early 90s of Bangladeshi film.[1][2]

Early life
Sohel was born in Banani, Dhaka on 1963.[3] His ancestral home is in Habiganj District.[4] His father's name is Tarek Ahmed Chowdhury and mother Nurjahan Begum.
Career
Sohel started his career in acting by winning the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation, talent hunt, Notun Mukher Sondhane, along with his future wife Parveen Sultana Diti. They acted together in Hiramoti which was an adaptation of a Punjabi story Heer-Ranjha. Sohel was moody, whose career was eclipsed by that of his wife, Diti, who had a more successful career. They also acted together in Chirodiner Sathi.[5]

Personal life
In 1986, Sohel Chowdhury married his actress Parveen Sultana Diti. They had won the Notun Mukher Sondhane, the talent contest of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation, in 1984 together.[5] They had two children, Lamia Chowdhury was born in 1987, and Dipta Chowdhury was born in 1989. In the mid 1990s Sohel Chowdhury and Parveen Sultana Diti separated.[5] Diti married Iliyas Kanchan after Sohel was killed. Her marriage with Kanchan ended in divorce.[5] Diti died on 20 March 2016 from brain cancer.[6]
Death
Chowdhury was shot dead on 18 December 1998 outside Trumps Club in Abedin Tower, Banani, Dhaka. On 30 July 1999 Dhaka Metropolitan Police filed murder charges against nine individuals including Aziz Mohammad Bhai. Chowdhury had previously gotten into an argument with Bhai in Club Tramps/Trumps Club over a woman. The club was owned in part by Bhai and was an illegal discothèque and bar.[7][8][9][10] Bunty Islam, another owner of the club was arrested by police officers from Detective Branch in 1999 in the murder case.[11]
