Southwest University (Louisiana)

Southwest University (SWU) was a small private for-profit University located in Kenner, LA.[1][2] Founded in 1982 the University offered associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and certificate programs.[3]

Academics

Southwest University offered associate degrees in business administration, criminal justice and general studies; bachelor’s degrees in business administration, criminal justice, human resource management, international business, leadership and management, management, marketing, and organizational management; master’s degrees in business administration, criminal justice and organizational management; certificate programs.[4][5]

History

Southwest University was founded in 1982 with an emphasis on student centered teaching and learning. The objective was to furnish understudies with the vital instruments to help learning with the adaptability for understudies to accomplish their expert objectives.[6]

On August 29, 2005 the offices of the University were completely crushed by Hurricane Katrina. The University kept on facilitating all understudies from substitute offices, however was uprooted for over two years while the offices were reconstructed. The University closed in March 2019.[7]

Accreditation

Southwest University was first registered with Louisiana Board of Regents in 1983 [8] and was accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation until its closure in March 2019.[9] All degrees from Southwest University are recognized by the US Department of Education.[10]
