Gameplay

The game is set in the year 2097 and is inspired by anime.[1] Players race against the clock through obstacles and enemies, including bosses, and can change into three mech modes anytime during gameplay: rally mode, bike mode and robot mode, each varying in stats.[2] There are three characters to choose from.[3][4] There is an "Anergy" meter that slowly ticks down from 99, displaying the percentage of full power, and if it hits zero, the game is over.[5] The meter ticks down rapidly every time damage is taken. There is also a tutorial mode.[6]

Development and release

Speed Power Gunbike was the first game developed by Inti-Creates.[7][8]

It was later released on PlayStation Network.[9]

Reception

GameFan's Anthony Chau noted its "hand-drawn polygon" visuals to be similar with those of both Tail Concerto and Mega Man Legends.[14] GameSpot's Josh Smith cited the controls to be frustrating and that positioning the camera can be "sluggish and awkward".[6]

Notes

  1. Also known as Variable Running Gunbike (Japanese: 可変走攻ガンバイク, Hepburn: Kahen Sōkō Gunbike) in Japan.
