Sri Lankan cyber security community

The Cyber security (or information assurance) community in the Sri Lanka is diverse, with many stakeholders groups contributing to support the National Information and Cyber Security Strategy.[1] The following is a list of some of these stakeholders.

Government

Computer Emergency Response Team

Established under the Information and Communication Technology Agency in 2006, the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT) now functions incidentally as a government own private company under the preview of the Ministry of Digital Infrastructure and Information Technology providing the services of a computer emergency response team.[1]

Finance Sector Computer Security Incident Response Team

The Finance Sector Computer Security Incident Response Team (FINCSIRT) specializes in computer security relating to the banking and financial industry in Sri Lanka. It is a joint initiative between the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, SLCERT and Sri Lankan Bankers Association.[1]

National Cyber Security Agency

A National Cyber Security Agency has been proposed under the draft Cyber Security Bill.[1]

Professional bodies and industry groups

TechCERT

TechCERT formed by the LK Domain Registry, provides computer security incident response services.[1]

Cyber Security Centre of Excellence (CSCx)

The Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) launched the Cyber Security Centre of Excellence in 2020 with a goal of generating US$500mn of export revenue for Sri Lanka from the Cyber Security sector by 2025.[2]

TekSek Cyber Security

TekSek Cyber Security in partnership with Cyber Security Works provides vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, PCI-DSS certification, PCI-ASV scanning and other related services. The delivery of all findings through the RiskSense risk-based vulnerability management platform is a unique selling point.

Information Technology Society of Sri Lanka (ITSSL)

The Information Technology Society of Sri Lanka (ITSSL) was established in 2019 in Sri Lanka for the purpose of educating people about Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and to take initiatives in matters pertaining to recent political developments in Sri Lanka with interests attached to field of IT.[3] Sri Lankan law in regard to the Cyber security and the proposed law on data protection were some of focal points of ITSSL and ITSSL have been one of the principal figures involved in the dialogue.
