History
St. Catherine's traces its origins to the fall of 1864 when the Racine Dominican Sisters [2] established an all-girls' day and boarding academy. In 1924, construction of a high school replaced the academy and young men from the area were allowed to attend classes, thus beginning its co-educational tradition. The high school was named after St. Thomas until alumni rallied to have the name forever changed to St. Catherine's.
Previously just a high school, St. Catherine's welcomed middle school students for the first time in history in 2010, the program has been discontinued. In that same year, the school launched its 1:1 technology initiative, the Apple iPad Pilot Program.[3]
More than 15,000 students have passed through St. Catherine's since it opened in 1864.
