St. John's School, DLW, Varanasi is one of the best educational institutions in Varanasi. The school was established in 1963, at the behest of Diesel Locomotive Works (now Banaras Locomotive Works) management to provide quality education to its employees' wards. St. John's has thence emerged as a premier educational institution in the glorious years of its existence. The accomplished heads of school like Rev. Fr. Aurelius, Fr. Xavier Pinto, Fr. Joseph, Fr. Peter, Fr. Jacob, Fr. Lawrence, Fr. David and Fr. Susai Raj have rendered their valuable service in the past years. Along with imparting knowledge, the school tries to encourage innovation, promote values, nurture creativity, develop character, inculcate self-discipline and arouse wisdom in the students. The school comes under the Catholic Diocese of Varanasi, a registered charitable society under the religious jurisdiction of the Bishop of the Diocese of Varanasi.[2]

Infrastructure
Every classroom in the school, from pre-K.G. to 12 has with smart class and CCTV monitoring features. There are separate buildings for classes pre-K.G. to 5 and 6 to 12. Among several others amenities that any other elite school has, St. John's features two large playgrounds, a library adorned with a rich collection of books, laboratories furnished with every facility and equipment necessary, and a large modern auditorium with excellent seating capacity and lighting facility. The medium of instruction being English, every student here is expected to be conversational in the language. Apart from these, the school organises and participates in several Olympiads and competitions of eminent importance which further enrich the exposure and outlook of its students.
Sports
The school conducts various athletic tournaments, one of the most prominent ones being the MJM football cup which many schools from around the area participate in. There are also regular tournaments organised within the school for cricket and basketball in which all the four houses of the school compete for a podium finish. Other sports like discus throw, javelin throw and shot put are also given much importance here. At the end, all the houses are given points based on their performance in these tournaments.
