St. Peter the Apostle Cathedral, Cali

The St. Peter the Apostle Cathedral [1] (Spanish: Catedral de San Pedro Apóstol) also called Metropolitan Cathedral of Cali is the main Catholic church in the city of Cali,[2] Colombia.[3] It is also the seat of the Archdiocese of Cali. It is considered the Architectural Heritage of Cali and Colombia declared a National Monument by resolution 002 of 12 March 1982.[4]

Its construction began the Baroque style, and commissioned the architect Antonio García. On 1 September 1772 the parish priest José Rivera put the first stone. In building he was used as a labor of prisoners of local prisons. In 1802 the church was finished except for the tower. For political problems could not conclude until 1841 under the neoclassical canons.
