St Barnabas (Madzimbabwe) Secondary School

St Barnabas Secondary School popularly known as Madzimbabwe Secondary School is a school located in Wedza. It is approximately 2 km from the Wedza-Murambinda highway. The school offers up to O'Level i.e. Form 1 to Form 4.

There are currently two grounds for netball and two grounds for football. Sporting activities includes; athletics, football, handball, volleyball, long jump, triple jump, high jump, netball etc.

The school has two classes for each stage e.g. for form one there is Form 1 East and Form One West. By the time the author was at the school the West was for those who were good in class. Regularly they would shift a student from one class to the other depending with their performance.

Notable teachers to have taught at this school includes Mr Sheppard Chinhara, Mr Chipunza (mambo George), Eliya Munda (The Mathematician), Nobert Mazendame, Mr Chasakara, Mr Spuka (The Scientist), Madam Mutero (Mupanda), Madam Chipunza, Mr Murehwa (The Linguistic),Mr Gurure,Mr Mupamhanga to name but just a few.

The school draws most of its students from surrounding villages including Munodawafa, Mwedziwendira, Magadzire, Negombwe, Makurumure, Maisiri, Mucheni, Chipenzi to name but just a few

  • Chimimba Primary School
  • Chinyonga Primary School

Homesteads surrounding the school includes: Mr George Munodawafa (Manyembe) may his soul rest in peace, Mr Teny Mapako (Councillor) and Mr Chihiya (the late)
