History

Construction of Strong Vincent High School began in 1928. The school opened for classes in 1930, with the first class graduating in 1931. It was the first high school on Erie's west side. Originally named West High School, the name was later changed to honor General Strong Vincent. The school was dedicated in 1930 by the Rev. Boyd Vincent, brother of General Strong Vincent.

In 2017, Strong Vincent High School became a middle school when the School District of the City of Erie consolidated all of its high schools—with the exception of Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy—and created Erie High School (Pennsylvania).[2]
