Education and work

Despite being a physics graduate, Veerapandian joined Pachaiyappa's College in Chennai to do a masters degree in Tamil literature due to his love for the Tamil language. He graduated from Madras University with a gold medal in Tamil Literature in 1973. His classmates included Tamil poet Vairamuthu. After completing his education, he worked as a Tamil lecturer in a college in Chennai for 21 years before retiring. He was instrumental in spreading the quote "Fallen due to Aryan-ism, Arisen due to Dravidian-ism and Victory due to Tamil-ism" ("ஆரியத்தால் வீழ்ந்தோம், திராவிடத்தால் எழுந்தோம், தமிழியத்தால் வெல்வோம்") and with this quote as his base he launched Dravidar Iyyaka Tamilar Peravai[2] in 2007 and is serving as its General Secretary. It is an organisation which works for the welfare of the global Tamil people.
