Sundampatti is a village in the Pudukkottai district of India, and is 5 km away from Gandarvakottai. The main occupation of the people here is agriculture. The village boasts of having the most educated people in Pudukottai district and has a number of doctors, engineers and teachers as well as Head Masters in Government schools.

This is one of the village of Musiri 32 vellala villages ( Musugunda Vellala ). While most of the villages are based around Pattukkottai taluk, Sundampatti, Mattangal, Sivanthanpatti, Keerathoor villages are situated in the Gandarvakkottai taluk. The village was electrified in the early 70's. Now the village has a mobile phone tower, and has a dense network of landlines, mobile and WILL phones.

The village now is well connected by tar road to the nearest towns. The village has numerous teachers and physical trainers, IT professionals, industrialists and engineers.

Sri Vellaimuniswarar & Selliyamman is the village deity, who showers her love and protection on the people. A fifteen days 'Thiruvizha'is the eye catching event in the Gandarvakkottai panchayat union and now a newly built Veeranar temple with full of peace. People from this village are spread wide across the globe - US, Canada, UK, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Dubai etc...

Village panchayat has Sundampatti, Maruneengi oorani (Marungoorani), Kollampatti, Rasapatti, Melapatti, Pudupatti, Peruchu vanniyampatti and the voters count more than 2500. Till 2011 persons from Sundampatti village were only been the president of the panchayat. But in 2011 local election the person from kollampatti became the president of sundampatti panchayat.

Once a fertile and rich land, now rain proves to be fatal, drought hit, people here almost quit agriculture.
