Swedish Medical Society
The Swedish Medical Society (Swedish: Svenska Läkaresällskapet) is an independent and scientific professional organization formed by Swedish physicians, including doctors from all medical specialties. Its aims are the promoting of research, education, quality in health care[1]
Organization
The Swedish Medical Society was founded in 1807 av Jacob Berzelius, Jonas Henrik Gistrén, Erik Gadelius, Anders Johan Hagströmer, Carl Fredrik von Schulzenheim, Eric Carl Trafvenfelt, and Henrik Gahn. The organization is one of the oldest of its kind in Europe. Membership in the organizations was about 10,000 doctors in 2019, which corresponded to almost 25 percent of all physicians working then in Sweden.[2]
